Martin Edwards
Partner
Martin is a partner and heads our property
disputes team. He
is an experienced property litigator and advises on a wide range
of disputes whether in relation to freehold or leasehold property.
Typical cases include property management disputes under commercial
leases (eg ’54 Act renewals; termination of leases; rent
recovery and dilapidations etc) and issues associated with the
development of land (eg nuisance; trespass; rights of way etc).
Martin also handles claims against surveyors and solicitors for
professional negligence concerning property. He deals with all
aspects of the management of these sorts of dispute whether that
is preliminary advice to try to avoid disputes arising; pursuing
formal action through the Courts; handling alternative forms
of dispute resolution (eg mediation).
Cases on which Martin has advised recently include acting for
a public authority in its successful defence to a high value
trespass action in the High Court concerning alleged trespass
at a quarry/landfill site; advising a multinational firm of accountants
as to their repairing and other obligations on a substantial
landmark Midlands office building. Clients include private and
public quoted companies; universities and colleges; public authorities;
landed estates; pension funds as well as private individuals.
