Kavita Patel
Partner
Kavita is a partner in the Corporate Finance team at Martineau Johnson and specialises in private equity and corporate finance transactions including establishment of investment funds, public and private fund raisings and investments and takeovers and corporate restructurings. Kavita has a particular expertise in transaction structuring for VCT and EIS investments. Kavita has also been shortlisted for the Birmingham Young Professional of the Year award to be decided at the end of May.
Recent experience includes:

Listing on the Official List and offers for subscription to the public by various VCTs including a linked £48m offer for subscription between Foresight 3 VCT plc and Foresight 4 VCT plc, and other substantial transactions. Ongoing work for the VCTs involve a level of regulatory and statutory compliance. (FSA Rules, FSMA, corporate governance and company legislation)

Establishment the Rainbow Seed Fund, a £9 million limited partnership established by 12 research institutes led by CCLRC, Dstl, NERC and BBSRC.
The only research institute DTI awarded investment fund. The original set up and ongoing transactions have provided experience of resolving issues that can arise on collaborations between public sector partners promoting entrepreneurship and commercialising technology and IP.
- Public company mergers, takeovers and restructurings including advising Capital Revisions plc on the recommended takeover by Sovereign Revisions plc and the restructurings of Foresight Technology VCT plc, Noble Income & Growth VCT plc and Sitka Health Fund VCT plc to merge their separate investments. This was dictated by the underlying assets and shareholder base of the companies and the need to preserve tax reliefs.
