Jane Byford
Partner
Jane heads our employment team
and has wide experience in all aspects of employment law. Her
particular area of specialism
is contentious employment work, including complex multi-day Employment
Tribunal claims, appeals to the Employment Appeal Tribunal and
actions in the High Court in relation to breach of contract,
enforcement of restrictive covenants and misuse of confidential
information. Jane is also co-author of Workplace Stress: Law
and Practice.
Among the transactions on which Jane has played a leading role
are: advising a public sector client on the termination of two members
of its senior management team, following allegations of financial
mismanagement and a significant budget deficit; successfully acting
for a University client on its defence of Employment Tribunal claims
brought by two former male employees for unfair dismissal and sex
discrimination arising out of a large redundancy exercise and also
successful in getting the claimants appeal to the Employment Appeal
Tribunal dismissed; and advising public and private sector clients
on large scale redundancy and restructuring exercises.
