temperatures rising at colmore square
01/02/2007
Climate change is considered to be the greatest environmental challenge facing us today and, to facilitate discussion in this important area of public policy, Martineau Johnson organised a climate change conference at its No1 Colmore Square office.
Held in association with the Royal Town Planning Institute, the event focused on planning’s response to climate change and was attended by 47 people, representing a diverse range of interests across the region and beyond, including local government, educational establishments, environmental consultants and agencies and developers.
The speakers included Angela Healy of Martineau Johnson, Michael Thompson from Arup, George Fowkes of Carbon Trust, Keith Budden from the Birmingham Strategic Partnership, Simon Lucas from Wolverhampton City Council and John Acres of Redrow Homes.
Lynne Franklin, head of planning at Martineau Johnson, said: “The planning system is being asked to play a crucial role in tackling climate change and we wanted to provide an opportunity for planners and other interested parties in the region to hear about and debate some of the issues and challenges.”
“The fact that the event was so popular is testament to the importance of the subject. We’re running a similar event for planning solicitors in the region which we also expect to be oversubscribed.”
